David L. Harrison lives in Missouri, with his wife Sandy. Missouri State University and Drury University have awarded him honorary doctorates in letters. David writes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for children and collaborates with educators on books for elementary classrooms. He is currently Missouri’s Poet Laureate (2023–25) and his work has been anthologized in more than 200 books. David has won numerous awards, including the Pioneer in Education Award and the International Literacy Association’s Community Service Award.
