The Night is Like Pajamas from Reycraft Books Sheds Light on Overcoming Nighttime Fears

The picture book uses poetry and striking visuals to tell the story of a boy who finds a way to cope with his dread of the dark.

New Rochelle, NY, May 30, 2023—Leading children’s trade publisher Reycraft Books tackles an age-old fear of countless youngsters—the darkness of night—and how it can be conquered, in the picture book, The Night is Like Pajamas.

Published on March 7, 2023, The Night is Like Pajamas brings together author Pedro Mañas and illustrator Guridi for a combination of poetry and striking, evocative illustrations. The book tells the story of a little curlyhaired boy who is afraid of the darkness and the strange noises of night and the steps he takes to overcome it. He begins to think of the night as a pair of pajamas—a temporary covering that keeps him safe until daylight returns and he no longer needs them. And, as the boy keeps repeating to himself, “The night is like pajamas,” he is able to slowly drift into a restful sleep.

In its review, Kirkus called The Night is Like Pajamas “an artful ode to reframing one’s fears and getting comfortable with the dark,” accompanied by “simple but arresting” artwork.
