Reycraft Books Takes Readers on a Monster Hunt in The Sasquatch of Hawthorne Elementary
The middle-grade novel kicks off a new series of adventures about the legendary forest creature and a team of kids trying to find him.
New Rochelle, NY, Jan. 17, 2023—Leading children’s trade publisher Reycraft Books has announced the January 17, 2023, hardcover publication of the middle-grade novel, The Sasquatch of Hawthorne Elementary, written by K.B. Jackson. The book marks Jackson’s debut as an author of middle-grade adventure fiction. It is also the first installment of a new three-book series from Reycraft, Sasquatch Hunters, that centers on the large, furry, long-elusive creature supposedly dwelling in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest—and the kids who set out to prove he exists.
The Sasquatch of Hawthorne Elementary introduces readers to 12-year-old Jake Nelson, who has recently moved with his mom from Florida to his grandfather’s home in Washington State. Shorter than the average sixth grader, Jake finds it difficult to fit in at his new school, Hawthorne Elementary—especially after making an enemy of one of the most popular boys on the very first day. On top of that, word gets out that Jake has a most unusual hobby: He’s a Sasquatch hunter. Jake becomes convinced that the legendary creature is actually hiding out in the woods near his new home. Determined to uncover the truth, Jake will soon learn whether he will be mercilessly teased about his extracurricular pursuit, and whether his new friends, Jasmine and Lanny, will join him in his quest to track down the mysterious monster.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
K.B. Jackson lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest. A full-time writer and part-time genealogist, she loves to craft stories with elements of history and family dynamics. She modeled the character of Jake after her youngest son, now a teenager, who has been fascinated by cryptids since kindergarten.
Jackson, who is also the author of a new series of mystery novels for adults, as well as a screenwriter, said, “I’m so excited about the release of The Sasquatch of Hawthorne Elementary.
