Reycraft Books Puts a Fun Spin on Feet and Footwear in the New Book, City Feet
The multilingual picture book presents a lighthearted rhyming story about diverse and wacky feet, as seen through the eyes of a toddler
New Rochelle, NY, Jan. 15, 2023—Leading children’s trade publisher Reycraft Books has announced the January 15, 2023, publication of City Feet, by Aixa Perez- Prado. The multilingual picture book is Perez-Prado’s first project as both author and illustrator.
Written in rhyme, City Feet, is a day-in-the-life story, told from a toddler’s perspective, that presents—in fun, colorful, innovative illustrations—the feet of a wide assortment of city dwellers around the world, and the different types of footwear they put on to walk, run, dance, jump, and more. The book ultimately reveals that a city’s feet are as varied as the people and animals who live there, and interweaves several languages in its rhyme scheme, including Spanish, Portuguese, Quechua, French, and Haitian Creole. “I primarily write in Spanish and English,” Perez-Prado said, “and I enjoy mixing languages in my prose.”
Perez-Prado has previously written books for teachers and learners that combine storytelling with critical and creative thinking activities. With City Feet,, she has had the opportunity to channel her two loves, writing and illustrating, into one book project. “I am so excited about the publication of City Feet, my debut author/illustrator picture book,” she said. “It’s a silly and whimsical tribute to the rhythms and diversity of city streets, and I can’t wait for it to get into the hands of young readers everywhere.”
