My Dad is a Soldier, from Reycraft Books, Captures the Experience of Being in a Military Family
The illustrated book presents a relatable tale of a child who misses her father, a soldier on active duty who is often away from home.
New Rochelle, NY, May 30, 2023—Leading children’s trade publisher Reycraft Books puts the spotlight on military families—and the feelings a child experiences when one of their parents is deployed—in My Dad is a Soldier, published on March 1, 2023.
Sensitively written and vividly illustrated by Moran Zhao, My Dad is a Soldier tells the story of a little girl who travels with her mother to a military base to visit her soldier dad. Once there, the father is called away to help people suffering through a terrible flood. The child understands the important work her father does, but she hopes that one day he will return home and pick her up at school like all the other dads.
In its review, Kirkus described My Dad is a Soldier as a “relatable story [that] captures the pain of separation from a parent and will draw in young readers.”
